About Julie

It was during this time that I stumbled onto an ancient culture of practices many refer to as Mindfulness.  Long story short, I have since that time, almost 10 years ago, worked intently to learn as much as possible about this beautiful life transforming practice in hopes of sharing it with absolutely anyone and everyone who is willing to consider a happier, healthier and more peaceful way of being.

My past work as a counselor on a university campus provided many incredible opportunities to share these practices with many students in a range of formats. Along with having been trained and qualified as a Teacher Trainer in the area of Mindful Self-Compassion, I have subsequently co-facilitated many other Mindfulness based experiential groups that address a variety of personal needs including Mindful Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Coupling, and Mindful Education for teachers, parents and children.

In my current position as a Mental Health Clinician for a residential treatment center in Rural Alaska, I continue to be awed by the power of the human spirit and the capacity for people, if given the right tools, to transform the most paralyzing life chapters into stories of release and rebirth as these individuals reconnect with the truest version of themselves. By engaging ways of cultivating self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-love, like a phoenix from the ashes, we can transcend the impossible and arrive at a place of ease and contentment. Simple, not easy<33

Aristotle said "Where the needs of the world and your talents cross, there lies your vocation."  I have no doubt that teaching mindful practices is one of my most powerful callings, second only to being the matriarch of my beautiful and chaotic tribe.  Because of them, those I love, I have transcended my most difficult challenge of all....me.

Wyoming born, I have always felt proud to have originated from the State that was the first to give women the right to vote! I have an insatiable appetite for being in the mountains, on the river or at the ocean. I seek adventure and have stumbled across many amazing discoveries along the way, high on this list, finding what I believe is my True Purpose, empowering others through access to a more sustainable life of well-being, peace of mind and intentional presence in their moment to moment lives, the only life each of us  truly has, which neither exists in the past or future, but in this magical place we call the present.

Having originally worked as an Occupational Therapist and later becoming trained as a Licensed Professional Counselor, my work provided me a gradual realization that changed my approach to everything I do professionally and personally. We all suffer. … and we can suffer less! In my work I  was given an opportunity to work with others who, having the courage to ask for help, helped me recognize that I too suffered and that if I was going to be truly effective in my work, I needed to start with myself! Healer heal thyself.
